Tucson, AZ – Ciara Traynor is hoping to be a publicist for a famous entertainer or a startup business after she graduates with a bachelor’s degree in Marketing from the University of Arizona (UA).
Ciara, a sophomore at the U of A, says college has given her the confidence to pursue some big career goals, ““Yes, I have become way more confident. I know exactly what I’m doing. I’m way more driven. I’ve always been very driven but now this has set me on a path where I want to be this really well-educated person for the rest of my life.”
Ciara grew up in Scottsdale, has two younger siblings, and graduated from Arcadia High School. She first learned of College Success Arizona during her senior year in high school and went on to earn a scholarship from the educational nonprofit.
Ciara says Matt Sotelo, her success adviser at College Success Arizona, has been a big help, “I love him, he’s fantastic – he’s really helped me in college. He meets with me four or five times a year and I just literally talk about what I’m doing. He knows everything about college and he really helps me through it, and it’s been a great asset in college.”
College Success Arizona also works with students to help them network and develop contacts that can be beneficial later in their career. Ciara says she’s busy building her brand, “Overall as a business major it’s very important for me to network, I do it all of the time. I’m always going to events to try and get my name out there and make contacts with a whole bunch of people – professionals in the community and outside of it. And especially in the publicist area, it’s so small and so specific that I really have to network to be able to get into that circle and get myself known.”
Ciara says grade school students considering attending college should:
“Definitely go to college. Take this opportunity because it’s so much better when you’re younger – you get to have the full college experience. I would say it would be so much harder to come back afterwards.”
Since 2005, College Success Arizona has worked with nearly 1,300 students, and provided more than 16 million dollars in scholarships and success services to help increase the college attainment rate in Arizona.
