This is the next installment in a series of interviews with the College Success Arizona team.

Continuing with this feature, we’re be taking a closer look at the College Success Arizona team, the people that make all that we do happen.  We’ll be asking the normal “tell us a little about yourself” questions, but also delving a little deeper into each team member’s personality, and what makes them who they are.

This month’s subject is our newest Success Adviser, Staphany Ramirez.

What is your role at College Success Arizona?

I am a success adviser and I work directly with students that are part of the College Mentoring Program.

How did you come to be associated with College Success Arizona?

My journey with College Success Arizona began in 2012 as a scholar. Myrna Cardenas was my success adviser throughout my undergraduate career. After graduating, she continued to mentor me with the new chapter of my life, the workforce.

What is the best thing about working with students (or your job)?

My favorite part of working with students is to be part of the journey. Personally, having a mentor had a huge impact in my life. Knowing that I can be that support to other students is a privilege.

Why do you feel increasing Arizona’s College Attainment Rate is so important?

There are so many jobs requiring a skill set in the workforce.

What is your vision for the Arizona of the future?

Arizona has given me so much! I envision an educational system where each student receives the same treatment and access to resources.

If you had a message for a student just beginning their college career, what would that be?

The message is simple! Never forget your long-term goal and your “why”. Your “why” will be an important factor when obstacles get in the way through their undergraduate career. However, if you know your “why” you will persevere to the finish line.

Basic stats (hometown, family, etc.):
