Each year, College Success Arizona recognizes leaders who champion efforts to improve Arizona’s economy by supporting education and its role in creating a skilled workforce to power Arizona’s future. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Leaders & Legends event. As we celebrate this important milestone, we are especially excited to recognize Jane and Vince Roig for their efforts to promote education, both in Arizona and across the nation.
Jane LaRocca Roig has been a leader in higher education access, choice and success programs for over 40 years. She was a founding officer of Helios Education Foundation. Ms. Roig has served on the board of the Helios Education Foundation for several years and chairs its Public Policy Committee. In addition to the Helios Board, Ms. Roig serves on the boards of the Arizona Science Center, the Sandra Day O’Connor Institute, and the Leadership Council for the Pastor Center for Politics and Public Policy at Arizona State University.
Vince Roig has been a champion of education for nearly 50 years. As Founding Chairman of the Board of Helios Education Foundation (Helios), Mr. Roig sets the organizational tone and oversees governance, management and related activities with a focus on mission, direction and priorities. His leadership and lifelong commitment to education has helped Helios emerge as one of the largest foundations focused solely on education in both Arizona and Florida. He was named the 2013 Afterschool Champion by the Arizona Center for Afterschool Excellence, the 2014 Hero of Education by the Maricopa Community Colleges Foundation, a 2014 Most Admired Leader by the Phoenix Business Journal.
