FACILITATORS

To begin, think about who has the time to organize and convene assessment team members – either a single individual or group of individuals to serve as facilitator(s) of the three-step Assessment Process. Facilitators need to plan, compile initial assessment responses, facilitate discussions, and submit a final assessment to AzCAN. Facilitators may also complete the assessment.

ASSESSMENT

The College Access Standards Assessment is a critical component of a continuous improvement process for all AzCAN members to consider how well you meet the college access and success needs of your students. This assessment is part of a process that will help your program, organization, or institution analyze the students it serves, how well it serves those students, and how it can serve students even better.

Before taking this assessment, familiarize yourself with the AzCAN Standards and the NCAN Common Measures. See the instructions below on how to take the assessment.

How to conduct the assessment

Thank you for facilitating your organization’s Assessment Process. As the facilitator, you will need to identify and communicate with assessment participants, schedule, and lead group discussions, and submit a single assessment to AzCAN at the end of the process.

AzCAN recommends that a facilitated team participate in the assessment when possible. In some cases it makes sense for one individual to complete the process, take the final assessment, and then submit to AzCAN. Please indicate whether you would like to serve as a resource to other programs for specific standards or whether you are interested in partnering with organizations or programs with your specific expertise.

STEP 1: GATHER YOUR TEAM. Identify the members of your organization who will participate in the Assessment Process. Consider a variety of staff members who can speak to the quality of programming and organizational capacity (e.g., front-line staff, administrators and executive leadership). Make sure participants are clear about the purpose and goals of the assessment and discussion process, the expectations of their engagement and the timeline for this work.

STEP 2: REGISTER YOUR TEAM. Email Shaylinn Aleman at saleman@collegesuccessarizona.org to let AzCAN know that you will be starting the Assessment Process and when you expect all team members to complete the initial assessment.

STEP 3: INVITE YOUR TEAM. Invite each team member to take the initial assessment by your scheduled deadline.

STEP 4: SUBMIT YOUR TEAM’S RESULTS BY CLICKING HEREYour team’s discussions and action planning should lead to one set of consensus results on the assessment. Complete the final assessment with your team’s consensus answers and submit it to AzCAN. Indicate whether you would like to serve as a resource to other programs for specific standards, or whether you are interested in partnering with organizations or programs who have specific expertise.
