nicole-bio-photo-for-webPhoenix, AZ – College Success Arizona is proud to welcome Nicole Santarsiero to the organization, and to her role as office assistant. By the way, Nicole has an MBA and a strong desire to use her education to help nonprofits and social enterprises operate more efficiently.

Nicole explains, “I’m interested in learning how nonprofits work so that I can use my education and experience to help these organizations operate with greater effect and efficiency. Greater efficiency usually results in saving money, which for nonprofits, can mean more resources can be dedicated toward their core mission.”

Nicole grew up Avon, Connecticut, a suburb of Hartford. She went on to earn her Bachelor’s Degree in Spanish and Religious Studies from Stonehill College in Massachusetts. Nicole also holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA), from the University of Massachusetts Boston.

In between earning her undergraduate and graduate degrees, Nicole left the U.S. to help others in Central America and the Caribbean. She served as a volunteer coordinator at a bilingual school in San Jose, Costa Rica. Nicole says, “I helped to plan trips where students volunteered at nursing homes, and in other areas, where the mission was centered on volunteerism.”

After leaving Costa Rica, Nicole moved to a village in the Dominican Republic, where she served as an art shop manager, which was centered on promoting local artists. Nicole says volunteering in economically disadvantaged countries had a huge impact on her, “It definitely changed my whole life perspective. It really helped me to appreciate how much I have, and to realize how much excess we live with in the U.S. These experiences helped me to place a lot more value on people and human relationships.”

After graduating with her MBA, Nicole worked for a year as a project manager for a successful digital media company in Los Angeles. She left there after realizing that her passion resides in cause-related and nonprofit ventures with an educational focus. Now she works with College Success Arizona!
