Advancing the Economy Through Attainment (August 2015)
Lessons from peer states confirm the importance of post-secondary attainment to Arizona’s economy.
Our first policy brief, from 2015, clarifies the difference between “completion” (rate at which students in higher education complete their degrees of certificates) and “attainment” (percentage of adults in a state who have postsecondary credentials). In addition, the brief provides specific detail on how and why postsecondary attainment yields economic and social benefits for graduates and for the entire state. The brief also outlines the benefits experienced by other states mobilizing toward attainment goals.
