13th Annual Leadership Symposium
In January, we held our 13th Annual Leadership Symposium for our Success Services Program. This day-long student conference consisted of motivational speakers, workshops, and networking. This year, students heard from one of our communities’ greatest influencers, Gonzalo de la Melena, Jr., President & CEO of the Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. Melena shared his personal story and really connected with the over 200 students in attendance. This was followed by a session focused on budgeting by Emily Schwartz, AVP, Financial Education Manager, MidFirst Bank. During the general session, attendees learned about the art of budgeting wisely and goal setting versus instant and impulse spending.
College Success Arizona was proud to welcome 131 new scholars into our Success Services Program this fall, and the large cohort was due in part to our wonderful partnership with Arizona GEAR UP. These students represent communities from around the entire state, such as San Luis and Douglas, to Kingman and Winslow. We serve over 900 students through our multiple mentoring programs. It is an honor to support and guide Arizona’s students through their educational journey and do all we can to help ensure their success in college and beyond.
