College Success Arizona works with talented, highly motivated, students from across the state.  All of our scholars have attended Arizona high schools, and are attending Arizona colleges and universities.

The scholars listed on this page will be graduating soon from their various institutions, and are preparing to enter the workforce.  Their schools, majors, expected graduation dates, and short bio are provided for you, as well as a link to their Resume, and/or LinkedIn profiles.

Carolina Aguirre

Arizona State University (Fall 2017)

Accounting

Carolina Aguirre is attending Arizona State University pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, and expects to graduate in December 2017. She then plans to take the test to become a Certified Public Account, and hopes to work for a Phoenix-area accounting firm. Carolina is also passionate about her roles with the Hispanic Business Students Association, and the American Association of Hispanics in Higher Education. Carolina was born and raised in Phoenix and graduated from Alhambra High School.

Leonor Amaya

Glendale Community College (Spring 2020)

Mechanical Engineering

Leonor Amaya is attending Glendale Community College and plans to transfer to Arizona State University and pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Leonor expects to graduate from ASU in 2020 and then hopes to work for NASA on machinery used in the Space Program. Leonor’s interest in working for NASA is driven by her lifelong passion in the exploration of space. Leonor was born in Palo Alto, California and raised in Phoenix where she graduated from Maryvale High School, and where she was a performer in an ensemble of advanced guitar musicians.

Melina Arellano Flores

Arizona State University (Spring 2020)

Mechanical Engineering

Melina Arellano Flores expects to graduate from Arizona State University in May 2020 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering. After graduation, Melina is hoping to work for Tesla and focus on improving the overall performance of the automaker’s electric vehicles. Melina’s desire to work for Tesla is driven by a long-term interest in environmental sustainability, and reducing carbon emissions such as those produced by gasoline engines. Melina was born in Mexico and raised in Phoenix where she graduated from Metro Tech High School.

Laura Cabrera-Medina

Grand Canyon University (Spring 2020)

Biomedical Engineering

Laura Cabrera-Medina is attending Grand Canyon University and pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering. She expects to graduate in 2020 and then pursue a Master’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering. Laura’s long-term career goal is to work in medical manufacturing; designing and building prosthetic limbs. Laura’s interest in prosthetics is rooted in the desire to help certain family members, and patients throughout the community. Laura was born in Mexico and raised in Phoenix from the age two, and graduated from Bioscience High School. Laura is passionate about ongoing learning and skill development in all sectors of her life, and plans to practice this philosophy throughout her career.

Socorro Chaidez-Ramos

Arizona State University (Spring 2020)

Engineering

Socorro Chaidez-Ramos expects to graduate from Arizona State University’s prestigious Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering in 2020 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering. Her goal after graduation is to start her own business centered on developing a system of home-based renewable energy. Socorro’s passion is to create a profitable business enterprise based on clean energy production. Socorro was born in Bakersfield, California and raised in Phoenix where she graduated from North High School.

Dina de Leon

Arizona State University (Spring 2018)

Global Studies

Dina de Leon is attending Arizona State University, pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Global Studies with minors in Italian and Economics. Dina expects to graduate from ASU in 2018, and then attend graduate school to study international law and earn a Juris Doctorate and MBA. Dina’s long-term career goal is to serve and provide legal guidance for an international organization such as the United Nations, and help to develop economies in Central and South America. Dina was born and raised in Guadalupe, Arizona and graduated from Marcos de Niza High School.

Carlos Estrada

Arizona State University (Spring 2018)

Business

Carlos Estrada expects to graduate from Arizona State University’s prestigious W.P. Carey School of Business with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, with a concentration on Spanish Language and Culture. After graduation, Carlos hopes to work as a business liaison, and interpreter, between American companies and businesses in Central and South America. Carlos’ career passion is driven by a desire to improve business relations and international commerce by reducing the negative impact that a language barrier can have. Carlos was born and raised in Tucson where he graduated from Sunnyside High School.

Jovanna Figueroa

Arizona State University (Spring 2018)

Biological Sciences

Jovanna Figueroa expects to graduate from Arizona State University in 2018 with a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences. After graduation, Jovanna plans to continue her education and enter veterinary school, and has a long-term goal of operating her own veterinary practice. Jovanna’s career choice is motivated by a desire to care for under-served animal populations around the world. Jovanna was born and raised in Phoenix and graduated from Metro Tech High School.

Meybelyn Figueroa

Pima Community College (Spring 2020)

Psychology

Meybelyn Figueroa is attending Pima Community College and plans to transfer to the University of Arizona and graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology in 2020. After graduation, Meybelyn plans to work for a social services agency and specialize in child and family counseling. She also plans to return to graduate school and pursue a Doctorate in Psychology, and eventually open a private practice focused on child and family counseling. Meybelyn was born in Mexicali, Mexico and raised in Tucson where she graduated from Rincon High School. Meybelyn is also passionate about advocating for the immigration rights of Hispanic Americans, and all under-represented population groups.

Kazandra Katzorke

Arizona State University (Spring 2019)

Finance

Kazandra Katzorke is attending Arizona State University and pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Finance, and expects to graduate in the spring of 2019. Kazandra then plans to pursue a Juris Doctorate at Stanford University, with the ultimate goal of becoming an international attorney, and serving as a US Ambassador to Japan or another country. Kazandra was born in Phoenix and lived in Mexico for a few years, before her family returned to Phoenix when she was seven years old. Kazandra graduated from Desert Vista High School.

Lisa Martinez Lopez

Arizona State University (Fall 2017)

Business Management & Marketing

Lisa Martinez Lopez expects to graduate from Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Management and Marketing in December 2017. After graduation Lisa plans on working within the marketing sector of corporate America, with an emphasis on learning how to help small and midsize businesses effectively market their goods and services. Lisa’s career ambition intensified after working with several small businesses through her job at the Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. Lisa was born and raised in Phoenix and graduated from Washington High School.

Pablo Moreno

Arizona State University (Spring 2017)

Mechanical Engineering

Pablo Moreno expects to graduate from Arizona State University in May 2017 with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. After graduation, Pablo plans to pursue a career as a mechanical engineer in a number of business sectors, but he has a specific interest in submarine design and marine engineering. Pablo’s career choice is driven by a lifelong interest in engineering. Pablo was born and raised in Yuma where he graduated from Cibola High School.

Yudidt Nonthe Sanchez

Mesa Community College (Spring 2020)

Human Nutrition

Yudidt Nonthe Sanchez is attending Mesa Community College and plans to transfer to Arizona State University to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Nutrition. She expects to graduate from ASU in 2020 and then plans to attend medical school with the goal of becoming a Medical Doctor or Physician’s Assistant. Yudidt’s desire to help others through a career in medicine is motivated by having, and overcoming, health challenges during her teenage years. Yudidt is also passionate about advocating for human rights and immigration reform among Arizona’s Hispanic population.

Joshua Ruiz

Arizona State University (Spring 2018)

Engineering Management & Business

Joshua Ruiz expects to graduate from Arizona State University in May 2018 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Management and Business. After graduation, Joshua is hoping to work in the management sector of engineering for Honeywell, Intel, or another major corporation. Joshua was born and raised in Scottsdale and graduated from Coronado High School. Joshua is also passionate about the sport of soccer, which he has played nearly his entire life, and he also serves as an academic adviser for high school students.

Ruby Salgado

Arizona State University (Spring 2017)

Economics

Ruby Salgado is attending Arizona State University and expects to graduate in the spring of 2017 with a Bachelor of Science in Economics. After graduating, Ruby is planning on pursuing a career in the banking industry, possibly as a credit analyst. Ruby wants to work in the financial sector to help people improve their lives through proper financial planning. Ruby was born in Illinois and then lived in Mexico, before her family settled in the Phoenix area. She graduated from McClintock High School in Tempe where she was very active in sports.

Monica Sanchez

Arizona State University (Fall 2018)

Nursing

Monica Sanchez expects to graduate from Arizona State University in December 2018 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. After graduation, Monica has the goal of working as a pediatric nurse at Phoenix Children’s Hospital. Monica’s career choice is driven by a lifelong passion to care for others, with an emphasis on children and seniors. Monica was born and raised in Phoenix and graduated from North High School.

James Shaffer

Glendale Community College (Spring 2021)

Engineering

James Shaffer is currently attending Glendale Community College and expects to transfer to Arizona State University, and pursue a Bachelor of Science in Engineering. He expects to graduate in 2021, and hopes to work as an electrical engineer for Tesla or another big company. James has a goal of designing and building more flexible and efficient batteries, which can be used in everything from a cell phone to an electric car. James was born in Fremont, California and raised in Phoenix from the age of two. He graduated high school from the Arizona Conservatory for the Arts and Academics (ACAA), where he studied and exceled in a rigorous curriculum of music and dance (ballet).

Keemesha Shay

Arizona State University (Fall 2017)

Public Service & Public Policy

Keemesha Shay expects to graduate from Arizona State University in December 2017 with a Bachelor of Science in Public Service and Public Policy, with a focus on American Indian Studies. After graduation, Keemesha plans on pursuing a master’s degree, and has a long-term goal of serving in the Navajo Tribal Government, in both educational administration, and advocacy. Keemesha has a passion toward making a positive impact on federal Indian policy. Keemesha was born and raised on the Navajo Nation and graduated from Ganado High School.

Araceli Villezcas

Arizona State University (Spring 2018)

Communication

Araceli Villezcas expects to graduate from Arizona State University’s prestigious Barrett Honors College in May 2018 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication. After graduation, Araceli plans to pursue a career in state government, with an emphasis on working in the area of public policy as it relates to education and sustainability. Araceli was born in Heber, Utah and raised mostly in Phoenix where she graduated from North High School.

Kayla Walden

Northern Arizona University (Spring 2019)

Psychology

Kayla Walden expects to graduate from Northern Arizona University in May 2019 with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. After graduation, Kayla plans on pursuing her Juris Doctorate, and has a long-term goal of working as a prosecutor for the government. Kayla’s career path is driven by her lifelong interest in the law, and becoming an attorney. Kayla was born and raised in Phoenix where she graduated from Tolleson Union High School, and she s also the proud mother of a young son.
